Nuremore Hotel & Country Club
Originally established in 1991, the 18-hole championship golf course at the 4 Star Nuremore Hotel & Country club has been described as one of the most picturesque parkland courses in the country and acknowledged as one of the finest amenities in Co Monaghan. This great par 71 course makes superb use of surrounding lakes and landscape to be enjoyed at any time of the year.Located 2km south of Carrickmacross, the 6,457 yard layout has played host to the Ulster Professional Championship. The original design by Eddie Hackett has since been modified by David Jones, making it less daunting, physically. Part of the Jones modifications has seen the par-five first being reduced to a long par four, so lowering the overall par to 71.
Its appeal is heightened by stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Meanwhile, a searching test of nerve and skill is provided by a lake between the second and fifth holes on the outward journey and later by a greater expanse of water, encountered off the tee at the par-four 10th.
